What does LOT do?

Mobile Pantries: Our mobile pantries bring hunger relief into the close communities of our clients.  We serve an average of over 500 households a month.  Food supplies come from private donations and the USDA Temporary Emergency Food Assistance Program.  We are proud that 25% of our distributed food is fresh produce so that we can promote healthy nutrition among our clients.  Clients are asked to visit the mobile distribution closest to their home once a month.

Most of our Mobile Pantries are supported by a specific coalition of local churches and community organizations.  These groups support their pantry both financially and by volunteering on-site at the distribution.  This is a great opportunity for local communities to come together and grow in relationship.

The Well Cafe: Our community cafe serves hot lunches 4 days a week at no cost to our clients.  Most days we serve 50-70 lunch portions.

Fresh Produce Market: We hold a fresh produce market at our HQ 3 days a week.  Clients can get one serving a week to supplement their pantries.  This allows us to quickly distribute perishable food donations.

Community Classes:  We offer community classes 3 days a week.  These classes include healthy living habits, life skills, bible studies, crafting, and fun social activities.  This is a tremendous opportunity for us to deepen relationships with and between our clients.

Congregational Nursing:  LOT 2540 has been able to host community medical resources provided by Cone Health, and UNCG School of Nursing.  We offer these services at our community center location and sometimes on-location at pantry distributions.  We love partnering with other area non-profits to meet the greater needs of our community.

Special Events:  Throughout the year LOT hosts community events to help with fundraising, and to bring our community together for fun, family-friendly social events.

Referrals:  While LOT's primary focus is hunger relief, we are aware that our clients have other needs that can be equally urgent.  Our staff are happy to make appointments to discuss individual needs and see if we can connect the client with resources that can assist them in areas such as shelter, clothing, utilities, health care, etc.
